For over 30 years the Kerry Emigrant Support Group has worked with various organisations and agencies in Ireland and the UK who support our Irish Emigrant population
Founded in 1992, the Kerry Emigrant Support Group is a not-for-profit, voluntary organisation.
For over 30 years the Kerry Emigrant Support Group has worked with various organisations and agencies in Ireland and the UK who support our Irish Emigrant population. This population primarily represents Irish people based in London and elsewhere in the UK who emigrated from Ireland, but through our association can remain connected with Kerry and Ireland through our various activities.
For many people emigration represents an opportunity and success, for others it can be a more challenging experience where the expectations and the reality of a personal emigration experience differs. The Kerry Emigrant Support Group is an organisation that exists to assist people on this personal emigration journey through practical, hands-on interventions and supports.
Through the work of the Kerry Emigrant Support Group, one of our main activities is we offer the opportunity for those who wish to stay connected with Kerry to participate in an excursion to the Kingdom. Annually, every March Kerry Emigrant Support Group welcome 30 visitors from the UK to Tralee, where visitors enjoy the best of a Kerry welcome and hospitality.
The Kerry Emigrant Support Group is also an approved housing body, with houses and apartments in Tralee and Castleisland. The association works closely with Irish emigrants who are considering returning to Kerry on a more permanent basis and over many years they have worked in partnership with various agencies and organisations to support many people relocate safely and compassionately back to Kerry. The work of the Association in the voluntary housing sector takes place under the umbrella of the Kerry Emigrant Housing Association Ltd.
The work of the Kerry Emigrant Support Group is only possible due to the generous support of its many volunteers throughout Kerry and London who give of their time and those who through financial contributions support the work of the organisation.
